The Office of the President of the Republic announces with deep sorrow that Lennart-Georg Meri, President of the Republic in the years 1992-2001 died last night in Tallinn.
President Meri passed away on Tuesday, March 14, at 3.40 am, at Magdaleena Hospital of Ida-Tallinn Central Hospital after a long and serious illness.
The President of the Republic and the Office of the President express deep condolences to the family and relatives of President Meri.
